Meet Our Dentists: Pediatric and Family Dental Care in Beaverton

A pediatric dentist for your children and a general dentist for you, working side by side in one welcoming Beaverton office.

Short answer: Bien Dental has two dentists. Dr. Hsu is our pediatric dentist for infants, children and teens. Dr. Jovan Gvozden, DMD, is our general dentist for adults. Together they let parents and kids receive care under one roof.

Two dentists, one shared way of working

Most families weigh two questions when choosing a dental office: who is going to be kind to my child, and where can I get care myself? Our practice was built around both. Children come first here, and adults are welcome, too.

The two dentists have different training and different strengths, but the same habits: slow down, explain, and check in often. That consistency matters. A child who sees a parent care for their own teeth learns it is routine learns something no pamphlet can teach.

Dr. Richard Hsu, DMD

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Hsu focuses on children’s dental health, from a baby’s first tooth through the teenage years. Families can expect patient, plain-language explanations, and a child who is treated as an active participant, not a bystander.

How the team works together

Because both dentists practice in the same office, communication is easy. A parent with a sore molar and a child due for a checkup can often plan appointments around each other, so one trip covers more of the family’s needs.

It also means continuity as your family grows. A toddler who starts with infant oral health guidance can move through regular checkups, teen care and eventually into adult dentistry, all in a place they already know.

What you can count on

  • Explanations before treatment, in words that fit the patient’s age
  • Time for questions, from parents and kids alike
  • Options discussed openly, including what can wait and what shouldn’t
  • A gentle pace, and permission to pause if someone needs a break
  • Respect for each family’s preferences and worries

Which dentist should we see?

Children from infancy through the teen years see Dr. Hsu. Adults, including parents and grandparents, see Dr. Gvozden for general dentistry. If your situation doesn’t fit neatly into either group, such as a young adult who is aging out of pediatric care, just ask. We’ll help you choose the best fit.

If you’re not sure where to begin, our new patient page walks through the process, and you can request an appointment whenever you’re ready. Prefer to talk it over? Call us at (503) 822-0096.

Why a two-dentist family practice makes life easier

Dental care for a family tends to scatter. One office handles the toddler, another the teenager, a third the parent who has put off a checkup for a year and a half. Every location means another set of forms, another commute and another first-day-of-school feeling.

Having a pediatric dentist and a general dentist in one office trims most of that away. Records stay in one place, appointment times can be lined up, and families get to know the space and the routine. For children, familiarity is a real advantage: a room they have seen before is a room they can relax in.

Comfort for kids, and for the grown-ups who bring them

We pay attention to parents, too. Many adults associate the dentist with long-ago experiences they would rather forget. Seeing your own dentist talk kindly to your child, and being treated kindly yourself, can change how a whole family feels about dental care.
