Family & General Dentist in Beaverton, OR
Thoughtful, unhurried dental care for adults and families, led by Dr. Jovan Gvozden, DMD, at our pediatric-first office in Beaverton.
A family dentist in Beaverton who takes his time
Bien Dental began with children in mind, but a family rarely stops at one patient. Parents bring their kids in and quietly think about their own overdue checkup. Grandparents ask where they should go. Teenagers age out of childhood and into adult care. General dentistry here is meant to catch all of those people.
The person providing that care is Dr. Jovan Gvozden. He trained in dentistry at the University of Sarajevo, completed hospital surgical training in Sarajevo and Belgrade, and later held a teaching and clinical appointment in oral and maxillofacial surgery at OHSU School of Dentistry in Portland. After moving to the United States in 1995 he earned his U.S. DMD at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He has served patients in the Beaverton, Aloha and Hillsboro area for more than 15 years. Read his full story.

Learn more →How we approach adult care
The style is calm, gentle and methodical. Dr. Gvozden explains what he sees, shows you where the problem is, and does not rush a decision.
We aim for the most conservative treatment that will last. If a small filling will do, we will not suggest a crown. If a tooth can be saved, we will tell you how. And if a problem falls outside general dentistry, we will say so plainly and point you to the right specialist.

Your first adult visit, step by step
- Tell us what is on your mind. Pain, a chipped tooth, a long gap since your last visit, or nothing at all.
- Exam. A review of your health history, teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues, with X-rays when they are appropriate for you.
- Cleaning. Removal of plaque and tartar, tailored to what your gums need.
- Plain-language plan. What needs attention now, what can wait and what the options cost. We are glad to check your benefits and talk through payment.
Common reasons adults call us
- “I have a tooth that hurts when I bite down.”
- “A filling fell out over the weekend.”
- “My gums bleed and I do not know why.”
- “I am missing a tooth and want to know my options.”
- “I just moved to the area and need a dentist for the family.”

Questions parents (and adults) often ask
Do you accept adult patients even though you focus on kids?
Yes. Bien Dental’s focus is pediatric dentistry, and we also welcome adults for general dental care with Dr. Gvozden. You do not need to have a child in the practice to book.
Who will I see for general dentistry?
Adult and general care is led by Dr. Jovan Gvozden, DMD. Dr. Hsu provides the children’s care.
Does Dr. Gvozden place implants and remove teeth?
His scope within general dentistry includes extractions and implant placement, informed by his surgical training. We will tell you honestly if a case is better suited to a specialist and help arrange a referral.
I have not seen a dentist in years. Will I be judged?
No. Many adults come in after a long gap. We will look, explain what we find in plain language, and help you prioritize. There is no lecture.
Can I schedule my appointment near my child’s?
Often, yes. Tell us when you call or on the appointment request form and we will do our best to line things up.
Do you offer emergency care for adults?
If you have severe pain, swelling or a broken tooth, call (503) 822-0096 right away. See our emergency dentist page for guidance.
Ready to book your child’s visit?
Tell us a little about your family and we’ll reach out to find a time that works. New patients — kids, teens and adults — are welcome, and we accept almost all dental insurance and the Oregon Health Plan (OHP).
